Liza has overall responsibility for everything we do here at Hertfordshire Growth Hub. She has a long and impressive track record of working in the business enterprise and support sector. Passionate about business growth, Liza was previously focused on supporting businesses in advisory roles, and then for leveraging the support available to businesses through our network of providers at local, regional and national levels. She has an extensive knowledge of the business support ecosystem and is a strong advocate of partnership working and bringing organisations together to support businesses.
Starting her career with a large finance house, Liza spent several years helping many small companies access financial support. Since then she’s dedicated her career to providing business advice, spending eight years with Business Link in London and six years at Hertfordshire-based Wenta, setting up and managing a business incubator and advising early stage businesses.
Having built up a deep understanding of the challenges SMEs face and the county’s business support ecosystem, Liza draws on this to work with our array of stakeholders and partners to shape the design and delivery of our services, making sure they’re meeting the needs of our diverse clients.

SME Access to Finance Advisor
Trained in computing science, George began his career during the early days of the Internet, working on early versions of Internet Banking (remembered with fond nostalgia). He moved from analysis and design into project management delivering business transformation programmes in cards and payments. With the rise of Fintech, he left corporate life to become COO of a London-based startup using cloud technology to deliver cost-effective financial services challenging traditional banks. Later, he founded a consultancy helping SMEs tackle profit, cost, and resilience challenges. Joining the growth hub, he continues his mission to support SME innovation and growth by getting them ‘Finance Ready’.
George’s role as Access to Finance Advisor is to support established businesses that want to innovate and grow to become finance ready. This means, reviewing their business plans, financial forecasts and goals and objectively looking at them through the lens of a provider of debt or equity finance. Once done, George and the client work on a recommended action plan and George encourages the client to implement the prioritised actions with the goal of them securing suitable grant, debt or equity funding. He likes that every business is the same and yet unique and enjoys the client interaction.
