Recruitment and Retention Workshops for Dacorum Businesses

Interactive Workshop Round-Up

On Thursday 20^th October Hertfordshire Growth Hub, in partnership with Dacorum Borough Council, delivered a workshop at the new Strathallan Business Centre, Hemel Hempstead. The half-day session provided Dacorum business owners in attendance with expert guidance and insight to help them overcome any recruitment and retention challenges they are currently facing. 

Businesses have been telling us that they are struggling to find the 'right people' for roles, that there is a limited pool of qualified candidates and that they are struggling to meet candidates' salary expectations. The Growth Hub’s recently published Cost of Living Business Survey cited recruitment and retention as a challenge facing 1 in 4 businesses. 

The session, which has been a popular feature of the Growth Hub workshop programme since last November, had some fresh content updates from the expert guest speakers this time around. The presenters were Laura Wheatley and Graham Hardy from Infusion Group, Cheryl Luzet from Wagada Digital, Liz Redway from Redway HR and Anne Tinker from the Step2Skills programme. The session covered:

• Qualifying the need for a new hire;
• How to use marketing to help attract new talent;
• The interviewing and selection process;
• Onboarding and induction;
• The regulations surrounding offers and employment

Steve Armitage, Growth Account Manager at Hertfordshire Growth Hub closed the session highlighting how the Growth Hub Advisers can support businesses through its fully-funded and impartial advice service.
